Where to start your kid’s technology education?
Welcome to our Tech Blog!
Today’s topic is the one I have encountered countless times: where do I start my kid’s Computer Science education?
Unlike Tae Kwon Do, there is no rigid progression in Computer Science. You don’t go from white belt to yellow belt etc.
There is of course a white belt in Computer Science. Rather, there are white belts.
Start with what your kid loves. If she likes playing with LEGO, then LEGO Engineering or LEGO Robotics is the way to go.
If he likes to play video games, then Video Game Design is a good place to start. And then there are those to love to draw or paint. They may start with a Digital Art Program. The beauty of Computer Science Education is you can start with what you love. There are programs for every interest and proficiency level.
There is no ideal place to start.
There are only 2 important things:
- Start with what you love.
- Stay with it for a while to start seeing the connections and reaping the benefits.
This is what we always advised our students and their parents. And this has worked wonderfully for them.
What are you thoughts on this?
